| Harps through to Semi-Finals |

WSF Update No.2
October 14th, 2000: NCB Angel Harps are through to the Semi-Finals of the World Steelband Festival.. Playing in position
number 4 on the night of the first preliminaries, Angel Harps scored a total of 676 points
to finish in 14th position. A total of 16 bands made it through to the semi finals which
will be held next Tuesday & Wednesday.
Arranger, James Clarkson is confident that the
band can now make it into the finals. Clarkson admitted that the band's performance of the
test piece left lots of room for improvement and he believes that the band made it into
the semifinals based on the performance of the other two tunes, Fiesta Paso Doble (tune of
choice) and Pan around the World (calypso of choice). Playing the test piece first, there
was a lot of nervousness among the young players, however by the time they got into the
calypso of choice, they had the small crowd going crazy and a received a standing ovation
at the end of their performance.
With a few days left before the Semi Finals,
and with this extra time to polish off the test piece, Clarkson is confident that the band
can make it into the Finals. The bands will play all three pieces for the semi finals but
only the Tune of Choice and the Calypso of Choice for the Finals..
