Panorama 2009 Launch on Sunday July 5th
24th June 2009 -- Sunday July 5th is the day set for the official Launch of Panorama 2009. The event is scheduled to begin at 5.00 pm at the Tivoli Hard Court in St. Andrew.
All steel orchestras participating in Panorama 2009 will be making an appearance at the launch. So far, a total of eight bands will be taking part in this year's competition. The eight are defending champions Republic Bank Angel Harps, Lime Commancheros, Lewis Construction Pan Angels, Digicel West Side Symphony, Suzuki Pan Wizards, Calabash Pan Lovers, Coyaba New Dimension and Rainbow City All Stars.
Main feature of the event will be the Bomb Tune Competition. Steel orchestras will be required to play a local piece which will be judged using the same criteria as a panorama arrangement. The chosen piece must not be a 2009 composition. The judging for the competition will be done by a panel of local judges.
Bands will also be required to play two other songs, a verse and chorus version of their panorama 2009 selection plus another song of choice.
Unlike in previous years, participants for Junior Panorama 2009 will not be appearing at the 2009 Launch. However, at least four bands have indicated that they will be taking part in Junior Panorama 2009. They are Defending Champions Lime Commancheros, Lewis Construction Pan Angels, AGD Signs Wiz Kids and Republic Bank Angel Harps.
